December 24 – Christmas Eve
In the morning, we had a modest continental breakfast at the Astor in a room near reception with more antiques on shelves.
From there, we wandered through Hobart, looking at this and that – including a great music store full of many types of instruments – and finally arrived at the camper van hire (rental) location. We went over the features, fine print, payment, etc. and then were on our way in the Toyota pop-top camper van…
Happy New Year! As most of you may already know, I took a camping trip in Tasmania during the last week of 2012. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any Tasmanian devils or platypus(es), but I did take a few photos for you. It’s nice being able to go for a swim up on the roof after I get home from work, especially on hot days or after working out in the gym (also on the roof).
In the interest of getting another update out in a timely matter, here are some pics of he new flat with my furniture moved in. Note that I’m still not all the way unpacked.
Looking forward to not having to move again for at least a year! Big thanks goes out to my friends who helped out big time with the move: Andy, James, John, Travis, and Millie. Couldn’t have done it without them!

August is apparently the last month of winter here in Australia, and I hardly noticed that there was one at all. It seemed very much similar to autumn back home, and didn’t seem to stay here very long at all. Although it’s still been a bit chilly here, we’ve had a few very nice days lately and it’s quite apparent that spring and summer are on their way.
